A Partnership with Purpose: YUM and Bank Islam join hands to support students.

Date:February 2025

Location: Bank Islam Cyberjaya and Multimedia University Cyberjaya

Yayasan Universiti Multimedia (YUM) is pleased to announce an exciting collaboration with Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, designed to bring greater convenience, financial literacy, and meaningful support to the Multimedia University (MMU) community.

At its heart, this partnership is more than banking — it is about creating opportunities for students and staff to access quality financial services while directly contributing to student welfare. For every new Bank Islam account opened through this collaboration, YUM receives an introductory fee as part of Bank Islam’s corporate social responsibility commitment.

Importantly, this fee is not deducted from the account holder’s funds. Instead, it is a contribution from Bank Islam to support YUM’s mission. Every ringgit received is channeled into MMU’s Financial Assistance Scheme, ensuring that the benefit reaches students who need it most.

How the Collaboration Works

  • Account Opening Benefit – When an MMU staff member or student opens a Bank Islam account through this program, YUM receives an introductory incentive from Bank Islam.
  • Direct Support for Students – These proceeds are directed towards financial aid for underprivileged students, helping them meet essential academic and living expenses.
  • Shared Goals – Both YUM and Bank Islam are committed to financial empowerment, ethical practices, and improving access to education.

Empowering Beyond Banking

This partnership is also an avenue for financial education and digital safety awareness. Recently, YUM hosted the “Smarter Than Scammer” Webinar, an initiative aimed at educating students and staff on identifying online scams, preventing fraud, and staying safe in an increasingly digital world. Participants left with practical skills to protect themselves both online and in everyday financial matters.

Through this initiative, YUM and Bank Islam are showing how strategic partnerships can create real change — combining the strengths of financial institutions and educational foundations to make a lasting difference in students’ lives.
