In the University context, DWIMMU functions as a fundraising programme initiative at MMU that utilizes Waqf and Endowment method through individual donations, corporate donations, cooperatives, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other forms of donation to create a sustainable long-term financial infrastructure to meet the needs and funding of academic activities involving MMU community. Moreover, it promotes and nurtures the practice of giving and giving back to our community and MMU alumni in particular.
Although this fundraising uses the concept of waqf and endowment, its contribution is not limited to those obtained from individuals and organizations owned by Muslims. The Waqf and Endowment opportunity is also open to Non-Muslim individuals and organizations and they are welcome to contribute to the fund. This is in line with the aim of the fundraising program aimed at encouraging the contribution from the entire community in the form of donations and endowments for education development via improvements in teaching and learning at the University, allowing the benefits to be enjoyed by all regardless of religion.
