On 26 July 2024, Yayasan Universiti Multimedia (YUM) took part in WIN Day — MMU’s official welcoming event for new students. Held every semester, this is a vital opportunity for YUM to meet the newest members of the university community, share our mission, and most importantly, offer reassurance that they will not walk this journey alone.
YUM’s commitment extends beyond scholarships and financial aid. For many students — particularly those far from home — university life can feel overwhelming at first. New surroundings, unfamiliar faces, and the weight of expectations can be daunting. That is where YUM steps in, not only as a provider of resources but as a steady source of warmth, guidance, and community.
Throughout the day, YUM representatives introduced our objectives and initiatives, with our focus remaining clear:
- Providing comfort and support to help students — especially YUM scholars — adjust to campus life with confidence.
- Aiding underprivileged students and scholars so financial challenges never stand in the way of education.
- Supporting Muslim students with tailored facilities and resources, while ensuring inclusivity for all.
- Ensuring accountability and fairness for scholars through pledge requirements, and economic background assessments — so that assistance reaches those who truly need it.
To make our presence impactful, YUM set up an Information Centre where students could find not only answers to practical questions but also a listening ear. Our team took the time to have individual consultation sessions with students who wanted to learn more about our programs, financial aid options, and support services. These one-on-one conversations allowed us to connect personally, hear their stories, and provide guidance that was tailored to their circumstances.
For our scholars, we go further. YUM’s pledge is not just about academic or financial support — it is about creating a sense of belonging. We want our scholars to know that they have a place to turn when challenges arise, whether those challenges are about studies, finances, or simply navigating life away from home. Our approach combines care with structure: ensuring that assistance is given responsibly, but always with a human touch.
WIN Day was more than an introduction to YUM’s services — it was a promise. A promise that from the first day of lectures to the moment they cross the graduation stage, our students will have YUM beside them. We are here to celebrate their achievements, help them through setbacks, and remind them that even in a new city or country, they are never without support.
At YUM, we believe that education thrives when it is rooted in compassion. Our mission is not only to develop capable graduates, but to nurture resilient, confident individuals who know they are valued — both as students and as people.
